Protect and finish the edge of the roof

Fascias carry the gutter brackets, while soffits close the underside of the eaves and can form part of the roof's ventilation. When boards rot, crack or pull loose, gutter movement and staining often follow. We inspect the condition behind the visible finish before fitting replacement components. Covering unsound timber would leave weak support out of sight. Once the base is understood, we install the boards with attention to straight lines, secure joints and neat connections around corners and adjoining roof details.

Good alignment helps gutters do their job

A fascia isn't simply a decorative strip. Its position affects bracket security and the fall that carries rain towards the outlet. We set the line with the gutter route in mind, then finish joints, corners and ventilation points carefully. At the soffit, we consider how the eaves connect with the roof covering above rather than sealing useful airflow by accident. Our accreditation supports a roofing-led approach to fascia and soffit installation, with the surrounding roof edge treated as part of the job.

Frequently asked questions

Can new boards be fitted over old timber?

We first inspect the existing boards and support. Fitting over sound material may differ from covering rot or loose sections, which can leave weak fixing points hidden. We explain what preparation is needed once the roof edge is accessible.

Why do our gutters move when the fascia looks sound?

The visible surface may hide weak timber, loose brackets or poor alignment. We check how the gutter is fixed and whether the fascia provides firm support. Incorrect falls can also place extra water and weight in the wrong part of the run.

Do soffits affect roof ventilation?

They can. Some roof designs use ventilation at the eaves, so replacement work must preserve or form the required airflow. We consider the existing roof build-up before closing the underside, rather than treating every soffit as a solid panel.
